Jeddah or Madinah?
- Jeddah (JED) has the most flights and is usually cheapest. Makkah is about 1–1½ hours away by road or the Haramain high-speed train.
- Madinah (MED) suits trips that start with a visit to Masjid an-Nabawi. Fewer flights, so fares can be higher.
- Open-jaw – fly into one and home from the other to save a long road trip. Use the multi-city option in the search.
Planning around Ramadan 2027
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr around 9–10 March (dates depend on the moon). Fares peak for the last ten nights. If you can, travel in the first half of Ramadan or just after Eid, and book as early as possible.
Umrah scam checklist
- Packages must be ATOL protected if they include flights. Check the ATOL number on the CAA website.
- Never pay cash or a bank transfer to someone you do not know. Paying by credit card gives you extra protection.
- Be wary of prices that look too good – especially for Ramadan and Hajj season.
- Get everything in writing: flights, hotels, transfers and visa.
- Report fraud to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

During Ramadan, especially the last ten nights, and in the UK school holidays. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February.
